Family Friendly

Bundoran has a long history of catering for family holidays. Indeed, many of our visitors continue to travel in groups of three or more generations for their break in Bundoran. It is no surprise then that Fáilte Ireland selected Bundoran as one of six "Family Friendly" Hubs in its nationwide customer service initiative.

Over 30 businesses have currently signed up to this initiative which will build over the next 3 years.   All participating providers, from accommodation to attractions, to activity operators, have committed to providing a particularly warm welcome and friendly service to families with children, and to do all they can to make their time in the area even more enjoyable and memorable than it usually is, emphasising everything there is to see and do for all the family. Wherever you see the logo you will be assured of a little extra in taking care of you.

As well as looking after you and your little princes and princesses, Bundoran is promoting all the things that can be done for free with activity sheets and games ideas available throughout the town. A series of free events will be held over the summer and these are aimed specifically at providing free entertainment and spectacle for all the family - young and older.

The first of this series of events took place on Sat 13th and Sun 14th July with professional sand Sculpting from Duthain Dealbh. Over a thousand people visited the beach and about 80 people took part in a sand sculpting for fun competition. See Gallery for all entries.

Apart from the events, Bundoran Town Council's Tourism Officer, Tracy Ferguson, is keen to highlight the fun that can be had in exploring the town:

“Bundoran has such a hidden wealth of natural resources and it can provide the backdrop for free fun and festivities. We have clean and unspoilt beach, rock and green areas that lend themselves to all sorts of imaginative play and learning. Bundoran can be a very healthy place to bring your family. This year’s plans are only a foundation and I’m really looking forward to building on the events of this season.”
